Empire Avenue Stuff and Things
In my quest to fabricate a purpose for my brand new and shiny brentknowles.wordpress.com blog I’ve decided that most of my Empire Avenue musings will be posted there instead of on this blog (which will remain focused on writing and game design). Gamifying Charity
Over on Empire Avenue veteran player William Pitcher has triggered a lot of interest in Kiva, which is, in their own words: …a non-profit organization with a mission to connect people through lending to alleviate poverty… William is encouraging players to join his team on kiva. Anybody who lends money to a cause on Kiva will then receive a large number of ‘share purchases’ by others users who are donating their virtual wealth, in addition to real money, in an effort to promote this cause. So I’ve come to recognize that I wear many hats. I’m a retired game designer, a writer, a software developer, and a consultant. I also blog and I’m (somewhat) active on various social media sites. While wearing the vast majority of my hats I truly want to encourage others to connect with me. Consulting and Me
As many of you know I am a design consultant with Empire Avenue. I’ve also done some game consulting for other groups since I retired from BioWare and I have spoken to various companies about doing more consulting. In line with my last post about my three year plan I need to clarify my availability going forward. In an effort to focus time on my family and writing, I’m no longer looking for any new consulting opportunities. I want to focus on my current responsibilities and do them better. Vital Empire Avenue Statistics
So in the last couple weeks I have reached a few milestones on the social network exchange Empire Avenue and I thought I would share them with you today. The Numbers I sold my 105 000th share! I reached 1000 shareholders… yes that means over a thousand people paid cold hard virtual currency to buy pieces of me I own almost 2000 people (but I recently sold a bunch of slackers) My share price passed the 82 eaves mark (eaves are the currency of the Empire and based on my calculations will probably replace the US dollar in 4-5 years*).
