Sometimes Distance is a Good Thing

In between finishing Novel #2 and then editing it I took a month or so off novel stuff and wrote several stories.

One story, the longest, wasn’t able to be polished enough that I felt comfortable submitting it before I started in on the novel edits (the other stories are all out there wandering the world looking for homes). This story I really liked. I was fairly certain it was the greatest story I had ever written. Today, before digging into Novel #3 I decided to take a look at it.

Ick.

I think most of the story works well but parts are clumsy and need rewriting. I remember being *so* close to submitting this story as is a couple months ago and I am very glad I did not. I’m giving myself the weekend to clean it up and then maybe I’ll spend next week writing rough draft for a couple new stories.
