The End of the Road

More about Brent Knowles,
game designer and author
Wanderer is the last surviving soldier of a war fought far in our future and he travels across a ruined world wearing a suit of armor made by his alien foes. Today is not a day for fighting however as Wanderer goes in search of companionship. And finds a witch. (Made the long list for a British Science Fiction Association award in 2006).

Not One of Us

(Received British Science Fiction Association Nomination)

A cat’s howl. A woman’s cry. The raucous laughter of boys on the verge of manhood, the cruelest and most dangerous of ages. With a sigh he resumed his pace. He was the Wanderer and he would do what needed doing before doing what he needed.

…and Brent Knowles’ gothic science-fiction ‘The End of the Road’ are stories that make me want to read more from both authors as soon as possible.

This was my first print sale! I still remember where I was when I opened that acceptance letter…

It is also the first published story that includes my Wanderer character… though it is the “last” in his story arc… detailing what happens to him at the end of his long journey.

Out of all your stories this one is one of my favorites so far. Haven’t read them all yet, slowly getting there though.
