Look What I Got For Christmas

This is the starship I always wanted as a kid and now after 25+ year I finally have it. Well, kind of. Technically I bought this for myself last spring but was overruled by the Council and had to set it aside to be used as a Christmas gift for the 6yr old. So it has been an even longer wait. But now that it is open the 6yr old says that I can play with it… sometimes.

    Meat Eater or Plant Eater?

So I was talking with my 3yr old the other day and trying to explain to him that a tauntaun was a herbivore. I was explaining that one way to tell was because it had horns and that predators generally don’t have horns. Which led us to the Wampa. I really don’t think it should have horns. It is a blood-thirsty predator after all. We got into quite the debate over that but finally we decided it was probably an aberration, an omnivore that due to the frigid conditions on Hoth had to adapt by eating tauntaun meat. I Built a Robot

Well, okay, I didn’t really build this so much as snap together the prebuilt pieces. Was delighted to find the final piece in the mail after returning from vacation. Bonus points to those of you who might guess why I’m excited to add this figure to my Star Wars Collection. (p.s. Bonus Points may not be combined with any other offer or redeemed for anything of value.)

    Boba Fett has arrived

Did I ever tell you I really really really wanted a Boba Fett action figure when I was a kid? Well I did. My cousin had one but he lost it in a lake. Which was rather careless of him. What’s the point of this post? Today my very own Boba Fett figure has arrived in the mail. He looks awesome and would be, if I were still a kid, a blast to play with. The rocket even fires! But he is not coming out of the packaging. Ever. He will just sit on my desk and watch me write. p.s. My 5yr old is extremely pissed at me for…

    Should I Open This Box?

Okay I admit it… despite being a fan I haven’t watched the original Star Wars trilogy in years. Worse still I don’t really own a copy of it. Anyways today I wanted to sit down with my 5 year old and watch the first movie. Digging through some old boxes I found this: It is an unopened box containing the original three movies in VHS format. We still have a VCR so I *could* watch them now but I’m hesitating. I mean this box has been closed up for over a decade. Maybe its destiny is to never be opened? What do you think?
