    Short Story Grumblings

    I wrote a lot of short stories last year. These, added to my existing inventory, mean I am marketing something like thirty short stories, most of which I try to keep submitted (at a market, under consideration) at any given moment. Over the past few days I started going through those submissions which had overdue responses. The results were discouraging to say the least. The replies have fallen into these categories: – submission received but somehow lost while under consideration – submission rejected but reply didn’t reach me (which has proven an additional headache, email from a major submission engine wasn’t reaching me) – story marked as accepted in submission…

    Stories and Amazon Sales

    So something strange happened this week… one of my stories was priced ‘free’ on Amazon (I mentioned it briefly last post). So far my publishing short story reprints to Amazon… Smashwords… AnthologyBuilder has been mostly an experiment in ePublishing, testing the waters so to speak. Sales have been far from brisk :) But with ‘The Prophet‘ being free several thousand readers downloaded it in the span of a few days. And in those same two days I’ve had more sales of other stories than in the couple years I’ve been on Amazon. No, please, don’t be too happy for me.     New Writing Market – Raygun Revival

    Received details recently of a new market: Ray Gun Revival (RGR) is an online magazine dedicated to fun stories, grand escapism, and good old sensawunda.
