Just Like Old Times…
Lazy Designer Book 3 is almost ready to go. I’m just reviewing the uploaded copy on the Kindle Previewer. I’m treating this much like I would treat the release of a game. As I go through the near-final draft I’m spot-fixing any poorly worded phrases I encounter, in the source material, but unless I encounter a major error, this will be the text that is uploaded. *If* I do hit major error then I’ll regenerate the book and start the review process over. Glad to be nearing the end of this. I cut a lot of words during editing but it still sits at over 70 000 words, almost twice…

“A Terrible Loyalty” in @OnSpecMagazine
Delighted to announce that my story, “A Terrible Loyalty” is now available in issue #92 of “On Spec Magazine”. This story marks my fourth appearance in On Spec (“A Ragman’s Vow”, “From the Sea”, and “Touch the Dead” showed up there in past issues). Special thanks to Diane Walton, the managing editor of On Spec, for her help with the edits on this story. The story was substantially improved through the process.

Another Revised Novel
Just finished revisions on another novel. There’s well established advice that you should never fiddle with a completed manuscript unless being asked to do so by an editor, but I do find myself drawn towards re-editing. Often this is because of specific comments on a rejected manuscript. This particular bout of editing however sprung from more general comments an editor gave to a rejected short story of mine. His verbose comments pointed out several errors I make, often, in my work. So anyways, the problem with having five written novels, is that when I see such useful comments, I’m compelled to go through my past work and edit… all five…

Plasma Frequency Magazine has accepted my story “Slaying Dragons” for publication in an upcoming issue of their magazine! My Spring Office Has Opened
This is where I did my writing today. Very pleased to be able to brave the outdoors now that the snow is gone. Also, do take a look at a recent post by Drew Karpyshyn on his blog where he talks about the process he uses to write novels. Drew has written Star Wars and Mass Effect novels and soon his original fantasy series “Children of Fire” will be available. I’m looking forward to reading it!

“The Flame Wife” sells to Nightfall Magazine
Found out last week that I sold my short horror piece “The Flame Wife” to Nightfall Magazine. There is a bit of history behind this piece which I’ll talk about here eventually, but for now I’m just delighted this strange story has found a good home. Not sure yet which issue I’ll be appearing in, but Nightfall has a Facebook page for those interested.

Lazy Designer Book 3 Exploration and Gameplay Is…
Not finished yet. I am working on it. It is just that it has so much more content than the previous two volume combined, that it’s more akin to finishing one of my novels. Which means, it takes time. That said, I have finally finished my giant grammar pass through all the sections and have trimmed several thousand words. What remains is a reread of the entire thing and I have to create some of the images needed to accompany the text (and the cover). Then I’ll start preparing it for publication. There’s no legitimate reason for me not to have it online before end of May. Part of the…

Read “Inside Magic Circles”
If you’d like to read my science fiction story, “Inside Magic Circles” it is now available at Perihelion Science Fiction. You can read the current issue for free. Please keep in mind that this story is somewhat dark and may be disturbing, so if you don’t like that kind of thing, don’t read it. (UPDATE – The story has been moved into the archives and the link above will no longer work. I’ll post an updated link when I find it.)

March Madness
A few days late posting this but we were busy over the holidays. Anyways, March turned out to be an interesting month, in terms of writing. I ended up selling three stories. I’ve previously mentioned “Great White” being included in Crossed Genre’s anthology “Oomph: A little super goes a long way” and Perihelion accepting “Magic Circles”. In addition I’ve sold a fantasy story (that I had previously sold to a market that ended up folding before the story was published). I’ll give a few more details once contracts are signed but this is a market I’ve sold to previously. And in unrelated news, I finally found out what happened to…

Great White Sells!
Decided I should mention the anthology sale I alluded to in a previous post. I was waiting for the official announcement of the table of contents I’ll be sharing with other writers, but given that a few others have mentioned selling to the anthology, I figured I should too. Anyways, I’m very pleased that Crossed Genres has accepted my story “Great White” for their superhero themed anthology “Oomph: A little super goes a long way”. They do not have a dedicated page for the anthology available but if you are curious about Crossed Genres, or the various publications they produce (including a fiction magazine), you will find more details here:…
