Cake
I am not a baker. I’m a fairly decent cook, but the whole baking side of the equation, usually leads to tears. I’m even worse at decorating cakes. But every year, on my wife’s birthday, I bake a cake. I’m fairly certain I haven’t missed any… I remember once even bringing all the ingredients with us on a road trip and making sure we got a kitchenette at the hotel we stayed in on her birthday so I could bake an approximation of a cake. Most years I’m not brave enough to post pictures of my lop-sided, cracked icing, monstrosities, but this year’s red velvet cake ended up looking better…

Just Like Old Times…
Lazy Designer Book 3 is almost ready to go. I’m just reviewing the uploaded copy on the Kindle Previewer. I’m treating this much like I would treat the release of a game. As I go through the near-final draft I’m spot-fixing any poorly worded phrases I encounter, in the source material, but unless I encounter a major error, this will be the text that is uploaded. *If* I do hit major error then I’ll regenerate the book and start the review process over. Glad to be nearing the end of this. I cut a lot of words during editing but it still sits at over 70 000 words, almost twice…

My kids made me post this…
My family has jumped onto the Minecraft party rather late, but if you want some fun Minecraft accessories, check out this instructables page: http://www.instructables.com/id/The-Ultimate-Guide-to-Minecraft-Papercrafts/ It has templates for creating most of the creatures and blocks from Minecraft out of paper. My folding skills kind of suck, but I’ve managed to successfully implement several of the blocks :) The kids haven’t even touched their toys in a couple days, preferring to chase each other around with blocks of TNT.

My Spring Office Has Opened
This is where I did my writing today. Very pleased to be able to brave the outdoors now that the snow is gone. Also, do take a look at a recent post by Drew Karpyshyn on his blog where he talks about the process he uses to write novels. Drew has written Star Wars and Mass Effect novels and soon his original fantasy series “Children of Fire” will be available. I’m looking forward to reading it!

Lazy Designer Book 3 Exploration and Gameplay Is…
Not finished yet. I am working on it. It is just that it has so much more content than the previous two volume combined, that it’s more akin to finishing one of my novels. Which means, it takes time. That said, I have finally finished my giant grammar pass through all the sections and have trimmed several thousand words. What remains is a reread of the entire thing and I have to create some of the images needed to accompany the text (and the cover). Then I’ll start preparing it for publication. Not Another Lego Picture
Still no real news to report so here’s a bit of a status update. First, progress on the Lazy Designer Book 3 is slow. And it has decided to reproduce. This is the book on gameplay and it seems that I have more to say on the subject than I initially imagined. I have almost reached the 80 000 word mark on it (book 2 was about 50 000). Given the size of this book I am going to split off the section on story/character (which was intended to be part of this volume) into its own book (becoming book 4 of the Lazy Designer series).
