Lazy Designer Stuff

It looks like I’ll write the third lazy designer book after all. The first two volumes have done ‘ok’, albeit not spectacular (else I wouldn’t be hanging around here on this blog, I suppose). Though I was reluctant to write the third book without meeting my sales expectations for the first two volumes I figured it made sense to start tackling this while I still *remember* my time working in the games industry. I’m worried that if I put this off too long I won’t be able to write anything relevant!

I won’t start it right away though. I want to finish the rough draft of my current novel first and then between drafts of that I’ll tackle book 3 of the lazy designer. So it probably won’t be out until the end of the year. This volume will be specifically about system and level design in RPGs.

Longer-term than that? Sometime next year I’ll write and release the final volume of the Lazy Designer series (the book about being a manager in the industry) and then, if I don’t pick up some work for hire or sell one of my own novels, I’ll probably start work on prototyping the gameplay for a game concept I’ve been kicking around for a while.

So that’s that, for an update.
