Lazy Designer Update
The Lazy Designer “How to Start a Career in Videogame Design” is almost ready to go. I should be posting it tomorrow (though I won’t be announcing anything about it until I’ve had it online for a bit… as I mentioned earlier the target audience isn’t for those reading this blog already).
Anyways, I really wanted to hit the end-of-August deadline and despite some scheduling issues I’m pleased I’ve managed to do so. It was not without some costs however and I’ll have to reevaluate after the book has been available for a couple months whether I want to pull it and make some modifications.
To meet the deadline I had to cut some ‘features’.
No written content was cut but I had imagined including some illustrations just to break up the text a little. I’ve been working on a robot-themed character in a variety of situations and each chapter was going to include the robot in a humorous design related predicament. Sadly my weak art skills and a lack of wiggle room on the schedule has landed these illustrations in the waste bin.
If the book does even moderately well once released this is an idea I’ll revisit though and will add the illustrations for future volumes.
Now I’m back to edits on novel #3, which I’d like to have sitting on a publisher’s desk (or at least the floor of their office) by the end of September.
