    Novel Edits

Sorry for the quietness but I’m busy with Empire Avenue and novel edits… I’m kicking this novel out of my house by the end of the month no matter what. As well I’ve been playing around with a secret project (not writing or Empire Avenue related). And no I’m not telling you about it yet. It’s a secret after all. I’ve also put a link to an Amazon store down somewhere on the bottom of this webpage, I’m going to try and keep it updated with my Kindle reprints and with any stories and novels people I know have available. If you want me to add your work to the…

Contest – Why the Heck is Brent Living in the Land of Ice and Snow and Freezing Frickin’ Cold?

This is Edmonton in March. Seriously. And its cold, 20 below or something stupid like that. And the wind is freezing And yes, I’m whining. So in the interest of amusing myself the first three responses giving an entertaining reason why I’m still living in this frigid place will be ‘gifted’ a Kindle copy of my story “The End of the Road”. Please provide an email address in your response (or privately to brent AT brentknowles.com) and I’ll send you the copy.

    The Monastery at AnthologyBuilder

I’ve been talking a lot about my Kindle and Smashwords reprints but I also have many of my story reprints available as part of AnthologyBuilder. This is a cool site that lets you take story reprints of your choice and assemble them into a print on demand book! My latest story the Monastery just went live on the site. There’s also A Ragman’s Vow, John’s List, The End of the Road, His Island, The Tale of Lady Spite, and From the Sea. Go check out the Magic Hat anthology which contains stories by Eric James Stone, Benjamin Rosenbaum and others (including my stories “A Ragman’s Vow” and “John’s List”). Or…

So How Do I Get a Job Writing in the Videogame Industry?

In an earlier post I suggested I would eventually explain how an aspiring video game writer might actually go about getting a job in the industry. And then I forgot about it. But I was kindly reminded today about that post and so here goes. Sadly I don’t have too many tips. This is because there are not that many video game companies that actually hire writers on staff. Most use freelance writers, under contract. The stable game writing career with benefits, free breakfasts, and sports cars is a rare beast. I don’t know much about freelance game writing, as I have never done that nor have I worked with…

    Disqus Strike 2

Just ran into a problem with the commenting system I use for this blog — Disqus — wherein I couldn’t post a reply to a comment. It cleared itself up after about an hour but I’m curious if others have been getting weird errors when commenting with Disqus? If you’re unable to post a comment to this blog please leave me a comment explaining the issue. Thanks! … Just kidding. If you can’t comment throw an email my way brent [AT] brentknowles.com. One more strike and I think I’ll go back to the basic WordPress comment system.
